Basundari provides the best environment for practicing yoga and meditating. There is a Yoga Shala and several meditation spots. Basundari also features two common pools, a café, and an upper and shared space. Next to that Basundari is surrounded by beautiful nature like rice fields and a jungle where frogs, butterflies, geckos, squirrels, dragonflies, ducks, chickens, lizards, and the rare snake may be found. The light shines through the bamboo and coconut trees as the sun rises. The path through Basundari leads to the different spaces.

Hidden Gem is often compared with a lotus flower. From seed to the emergence of a beautiful flower also stands for inner growth and the path to enlightenment. The flower lives in the light, but the roots will always remain in the dark. Darkness in this story represents the past. With this you immediately say that your past will always be there, but the flower above the water will show you that despite the past, there are also points of light that can and will make life beautiful again. Construction started
2017
A few years back, a shaman entered our unique location in the middle of the jungle and rice fields who felt the great spiritual power that this place has to offer. This led to the birth of Basundari which means “The Grace of Mother Earth”. As such nature has been carefully considered since the beginning of Basundari starting at the construction.
The construction is finished
Begin of 2019
After two years of hard work building Basundari from the ground up, construction was finished in 2019. Now, we proudly feature 11 unique rooms, swimming pool, yoga shala, sauna, ice bath, and dining area. All of these spaces radiate an eco-conscious ambiance as the building has been constructed with recycled wood and features upcycled furniture.
Basundari has new owners
Aug. 16, 2021
In 2021, Basundari marked a new chapter in its journey as the resort welcomed 2 new owners: Berend and Bjorn. Just like the shaman they felt the great potential that Basundari has to offer and decided to bring their own touch to the resort.
Trial weeks
Dec. 2021
December was an exciting period for Basundari as this marked the first opening under the new owners. Trial weeks were held to see what was working and what could be improved to create the beautiful Basundari of today.
First retreat at basundari

Perhaps Basundari’s biggest milestone was in August, 2022 when the first yoga retreat was hosted at Basundari. It was the first retreat but certainly not the last as this was such a success! The combination of Basundari’s tranquil location and spiritual energy proved to be the perfect environment for retreats.

Nature has been in Basundari’s heart since the construction phase and Basundari is continuously striving to have a positive impact on Mother Earth. There is a strong commitment to sustainability, and you will feel this in every aspect of our retreats. For example, all food ingredients and drinks are locally sourced, and we exclusively use reusable towels and sheets.
This is only the beginning of Basundari’s journey towards a more sustainable future and continuous improvements to keep creating beautiful memories with our guests. We are constantly striving to provide our guests the best experience possible not only in the present but also in the future. That is why our future plans revolve around sustainability, constantly striving to improve our practices, and minimize our environmental footprint to create an eco-friendlier retreat.
