By listening we can improve - and by improving we will become the best.

Tell me something about yourself

I’m a Dutch who has a passion of getting out of the comfort zone. I always want to try something that other people are too afraid of trying, because that’s where the the real opportunities are! Basundari is a great example of that, acquiring it in the height of the pandemic. I believe that luck is something you choose, by choosing to take that opportunity (that might fear you).

What is your favourite Indonesian dish?

My favourite dish is Nasi Goreng (fried rice). It’s such a simple, but delicious dish that I can always eat!

Co-Owner

Bjørn Haijkens

What is your role at Basundari?

I am the co-owner of Basundari, together with Berend. My role is to secure that, together with our amazing staff, that everybody is happy and comfortable. Our mission at Basundari is to let people (re)connect with nature, themselves and other people.

Tell me something about yourself

My name is Bjørn, half Danish - half Dutch. I am a serial entrepreneur and I live partly on Bali and in The Netherlands. I have done a lot in the sales before, but I thought something was missing. To have the opportunity to travel between Europe and Asia is amazing. I love to connect with people. I believe that this is why we decided to take over Basundari. A place where you can truly connect and feel the amazing vibes throughout the whole property. If you can’t find me near the kitchen of Basundari (where Ketut cooks the most amazing food), I’ll probably be around one of the pool areas, drinking a fresh coconut – or I’m playing tennis.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time you will find me together with my friends, driving around Bali on my motorbike or/and enjoying a nice dinner. Diving is also something I really enjoy. Ubud has so many different and amazing food options. My passion is travelling. Back in 2016 I made a world trip, travelling through a lot of beautiful places around the world. After having visited Bali several times, I decided to stay here for a longer time throughout the year. And now I even live here. It’s crazy how things can change in such a short time. The thing I’ve learned is that everything in life is possible.
